A historic town with a rich cultural heritage. It was the administrative centre of the area. The impressive Cathedral of the Virgin Mary - "Megali Panagia" is the seat of the Bishop of Petras & Herronisou. It was built during the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
